MYSA has been formed to organize and facilitate social activities for other local young people to participate in during the long school holiday breaks and meet every second Monday afternoon. Past activities have included surf trips, rock climbing, canoeing, sumo wrestling, go carting and jet boating! MYSA activities have proved a huge success and a whole heap of fun. The Committee is made up of a group of local young people who volunteer their time to meet every two weeks to organise and plan the next term break activities. NATIONAL YOUTH WEEK 2009

As a part of National Youth Week (NYW) 2009, MYSA was fortune enough to run a variety of activities for young people in the Manningham community. On Friday MYSA group members handed out show bags at the gates of Doncaster and East Doncaster Secondary College with information on MYMCA Youth Services and driver awareness, linking with the Walk the Torque event being held that evening. As well as information there was some freebies such as, YMCA wrist bands, NYW sweat bands shoelaces and wrist bands. MYSA then followed up with some more activities on Saturday night at the TwYlight Disability Disco where approximately 70 participants took part in one of 3 activities run by MYSA. The first was a basketball shooting competition where participants had to shoot a basketball into a tub. Each received 3 shoots to get it in, if you miss you step out. there was also a handball competition where participants handballed a football through a hulla hoop, not as easy as it looks. To ensure the activities remained inclusive, obstacle courses were set up for young people in wheel chairs who were unable to participate in the ball games - the fastest person through the course won a prize! Participants really enjoyed the activities and the night was very enjoyable for all, with everyone going home with a special National Youth Week YMCA showbag. Sunday MYSA finished up there activities for NYW with a local church group. There the played basketball shooting games, sing star and limbo. The group enjoyed the activities and welcomed MYSA for NYW. All in all it was busy, busy, busy for MYSA during NYW a big applause to all MYSA members and the time and effort that they put into the activities, your effort and time put smiles on a lot of faces, well done!
